Here’s everything you need to know about the 2019 Intramural Open at Alpine CrossFit…
On February 13th (Wednesday), all registered athletes for the 2019 CrossFit Games Open will be drafted randomly to their In-House teams. By February 20th, Teams will have to announce their team name & theme to the Alpine CrossFit community Facebook group. February 21st, the action starts with the announcement of WOD 1. Over the next 5 weeks, athletes will take on the coming CrossFit Open Workouts every Friday with opportunities for redo on Sundays. Teams can score points in a few different ways:
1. Teams are given 1 point for every athlete who completes a given Open workout.
2. Teams are given 3 points for every athlete who finishes among the top 3 women or top 3 men in the gym per workout.
3. Teams are given 5 points if they win the “Spirit of the Open” award on any given week, including Week 6 (your secret “fun” event.)
After the 5 Weeks are over, and all the points are tallied, we will crown our 2019 CrossFit Intramural Champions!
Q: Do I have to sign up on the Open website to participate?
A: Yes. Being this is a community event, we want all athletes to participate with the CrossFit community as a whole. In addition, we wouldn’t be able to keep track of top-place finishers without their online tracking system.
Q: Will their be prizes for the winning team?
A: YES! But we will announce clues as the Open progresses until the final week where we will announce the prize for the winning team.
Q: What if I can’t do the workout on Friday or Sunday?
A: With athletes traveling, we know this is a possibility. Luckily, we offer our 24 hour access for any athletes wanting to get in and get the workout done. Workouts at other boxes will also count towards participation for the team.
