How long have you been doing CrossFit?

Just over two years

Tell us a little bit about yourself: (Family, career, hobbies, interests)

Growing up in Wisconsin, we would always take family trips to Colorado and I knew that I eventually wanted to end up living here. In 2005, I moved Minnesota where I could pursue my degree in engineering and play hockey. After some time off, I moved to Flagstaff in 2012 and finished my graduate degree at Northern Arizona University. After graduating, I was working for a company that didn't have any offices in ideal locations so I moved to Albuquerque with the understanding that I eventually wanted to move to Colorado. I was finally able to accomplish my goal when I took a job with Y2K Engineering here in Denver. We do traffic engineering and transportation planning for cities, counties, and the state. When I'm not working, you can find me backcountry skiing, mountain biking, trail running, fly fishing, climbing, or anything that allows me to push my limits outside. I currently live with my dog, Cooper, who is the sweetest.

What is your favorite memory at Alpine CrossFit?

Annie's spin class warm up was one of kind

What was your workout regimen before joining Alpine?

I was going to a crossfit gym in New Mexico for the past year, but prior I would do typical body building work outs: leg day, back and bicep day, chest and tricep day, repeat.


How has CrossFit affected your life outside of the gym?

The intensity of crossfit has opened the door for endurance activities


If you could write a book, what would it be about?

How to keep pushing through whatever life throws at you.

What category would you be least excited/most excited to see on Jeopardy?

Least excited: US Politics. Most excited: Sports trivia

What was your first workout, and what did you think after doing it?

We did an AMRAP that included ring dips, pull ups, and running. I loved it but I still thought kipping was stupid and cheating.

What is your favorite and least favorite WOD?

Favorite: anything with running or endurance (sans assault bike). Least favorite: anything overhead


What are your favorite and least favorite movements?

Favorite: squats. Least favorite: shoulder press or handstand walks (because I can't do them!)

What advice would you give a newbie just getting started at Alpine CrossFit?

Give it a few weeks. I had a really good exercise routine before crossfit, but I found that crossfit really took my fitness to a new level. I really love the people and coaches at Alpine and have formed new friendships outside the gym.
