Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING CROSSFIT? WHO OR WHAT GOT YOU STARTED?

A: I started CrossFit about 5 1/2 years ago when I ran across a guy who was trying to start a gym. I was able to help him out with a few things he needed and he hooked me up with a membership. I was 100% hooked after my first onboarding class!

Q: TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF: (FAMILY, CAREER, HOBBIES, INTERESTS)

A: My wife Sonja and I have been married for 15 years and we have a son named Kaleb. I have to come to CrossFit because both of them have way more energy than I do, I've got to stay in some kind of shape to keep up with them. We spend a lot of time at Kaleb's soccer games and school events. When we're not busy working or chasing him around, we hang out in the mountains at our cabin, 4 wheeling, riding motorcycles, camping or hanging out with friends. I love to barbeque anything. Pizza and ribs are two of my favorites to make.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?

A: It's gotta be the muscle ups!

Q: WHAT WAS YOUR WORKOUT REGIMEN BEFORE JOINING ALPINE?

A: Before I started CrossFit, I ran a little and lifted weights. I ran a few half marathons and did some obstacle course races. Now the only running I want to do is if we're going to do Murph.

Q: HOW HAS CROSSFIT AFFECTED YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF THE GYM?

A: I honestly can't say enough about how CrossFit has affected my life. I tell so many people that when I'm in the gym, I feel like a kid in elementary school at recess, playing with friends. I usually come to class in the morning so starting my day off feeling like a kid gives me a great shot at having a good day.

Q: IF YOU COULD WRITE A BOOK, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?

A: I've struggled with some health issues since I was 12 years old. If I wrote a book it would be about how the struggles you go through can either kill you or make you stronger, it's your choice. No matter what, you have to step up and don't quit, ever.

Q: WHAT CATEGORY WOULD YOU BE LEAST EXCITED/MOST EXCITED TO SEE ON JEOPARDY?

A: If they had a category about how to act like an idiot, I'd probably crush it. If English (Or any other Language) literature was on the board, I'd probably just go home.

Q: WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST WORKOUT, AND WHAT DID YOU THINK AFTER DOING IT?

A: A friend of mine tricked me into doing The Filthy Fifty, I couldn't move for days afterwards, it was awesome!

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE WOD?

A: I don't care what the coaches program, I'm going to show up and try all the time. My favorite WODS are the short ones, anything much longer than 20 minutes and my tank runs pretty dry.

Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOVEMENTS?

A: I love doing deadlifts! Burpees, wall balls and the Assault Bike, suck, all the time!

Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEWBIE JUST GETTING STARTED AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?

A: Don't be concerned about what other people in the gym are doing, you're here for your health, not theirs!
