Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING CROSSFIT? WHO OR WHAT GOT YOU STARTED?
A: I started CrossFit for the first time ever here at Alpine back in December of 2019. Chris was the one who got me into CrossFit. After falling into a regular static training routine, Chris said that we should maybe try doing Crossfit and that he knew of a box that had great coaches, a great community, and a fun and vigorous training program. So I gave in and showed up in December and boy do I not regret it and I think he may have understated how great Alpine is.
Q: TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF: (FAMILY, CAREER, HOBBIES, INTERESTS)
A: I have lived in Golden, Colorado for my entire life so far. I am currently a student at Mines studying mechanical engineering. I have two younger brothers who I may try to get to come in one day. In my free time I enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, playing golf, frisbee golf, board games, and coaching baseball when I can.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?
A: My favorite memory at Alpine so far has been getting my first ring muscle up because it seemed like everyone in the gym and all the coaches were helping me with tips and tricks. When it all came together it was a great feeling and it further showed how great the Alpine community is.
Q: WHAT WAS YOUR WORKOUT REGIMEN BEFORE JOINING ALPINE?
A: Before Alpine I just did the stereotypical body building workouts where one day was legs, one was chest and back, and the other was shoulders, biceps, and tris.
Q: HOW HAS CROSSFIT AFFECTED YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF THE GYM?
A: CrossFit has been great for my physical and mental health. I genuinely feel better, healthier and happier in my everyday life because of Crossift.
Q: IF YOU COULD WRITE A BOOK, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
A: Probably would write a book on baseball or in the genre of science fiction
Q: WHAT CATEGORY WOULD YOU BE LEAST EXCITED/MOST EXCITED TO SEE ON JEOPARDY?
A: Most excited- baseball, sports, math or science. Least excited- general history, hollywood or music
Q: WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST WORKOUT, AND WHAT DID YOU THINK AFTER DOING IT?
A: I think my first workout was Strict Cindy and I remember really enjoying it because it was my first ever amrap style workout and I enjoy doing body weight exercises.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE WOD?
A: Favorite WODs- Murph, quick/short sprint style workouts, or longer endurance chippers where I can fall into a rhythm. Least favorite WOD- DT (not the best at barbell cycling)
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOVEMENTS?
A: Favorite- air squats, wall balls, snatch and clean, and burpees. Least favorite- probably devil presses or DB cleans
Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEWBIE JUST GETTING STARTED AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?
A: Just keep showing up… the more you show up the more you will find that you enjoy the workouts and the community at Alpine. Alpine is a very accepting and helpful community so don’t be afraid to ask questions and introduce yourself. Also don’t be scared of a workout because there are always ways to scale workouts and the harder workouts are the ones that make you that much better.
