Q: HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN DOING CROSSFIT? WHO OR WHAT GOT YOU STARTED?
A: Too long, almost 8 years. A few friends had been doing it and I was getting tired of running.
Q: TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF: (FAMILY, CAREER, HOBBIES, INTERESTS)
A: I am a Colorado native and grew up in Arvada, graduated high school from Pomona and graduated college from Metro. I have been Married for 12 years in September and have two beautiful little girls that are 5 1/2 and 4. I own and operate Bachman Auto, an automotive repair business right down the street from Alpine and we have been in business for 13 years. Pretty much like anything to do with the outdoors, hiking, camping and hunting and being with my family. I took up archery 3 years ago and that has been my main interest/hobby now.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MEMORY AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?
A: My favorite memory was the memorial workout for my brother’s fiance that passed away a short while after having his and her son Wyatt. She passed away due to complications with her diabetes and had to go on dialysis after having Wyatt. He was born very premature with multiple complications with his heart. He has had over 30 surgeries with 3 of them being open heart under the age of 5. Alpine put together a small fundraiser workout for him to help with expenses during all of this.
Q: WHAT WAS YOUR WORKOUT REGIMEN BEFORE JOINING ALPINE?
A: I was doing P90x and running a lot.
Q: HOW HAS CROSSFIT AFFECTED YOUR LIFE OUTSIDE OF THE GYM?
A: I’m stronger and more fit for it. I feel that it keeps me balanced with work and life.
Q: IF YOU COULD WRITE A BOOK, WHAT WOULD IT BE ABOUT?
A: It would be about me trying to go PRO in about everything that I start. I am pretty athletic, just not enough to make anything of one sport but I put 120% into them all and very ambitious. I have tried everything from bowling, golf, pool, poker, baseball, weight lifting, volleyball and archery now. My wife says I’m a jack of all trades but a master of none, lol.
Q: WHAT CATEGORY WOULD YOU BE LEAST EXCITED/MOST EXCITED TO SEE ON JEOPARDY?
A: politics or writing least, something about hunting most excited
Q: WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST WORKOUT, AND WHAT DID YOU THINK AFTER DOING IT?
A: It was cleans and/or clean and jerks. It came pretty easy for me for being the first time doing it but obviously it was very light weight. The wod was running, wall balls and double unders (Single unders for me)
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE WOD?
A: My favorite is Bull and my least favorite is Fran.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE AND LEAST FAVORITE MOVEMENTS?
A: Handstand pushups and jerks are my least favorite and my favorite is snatches.
Q: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEWBIE JUST GETTING STARTED AT ALPINE CROSSFIT?
A: That it all can be modified to what you can do, do not go all superman on everything right out of the gate. Build up to that and work at your level.
