About Coach

Growing up in a small town in Iowa there wasn't much to do besides working on the farm so I played every sport that I could from volleyball to basketball to football to track & field to softball. After high school, I went to Iowa State University where I had the pleasure of competing on the Division II National Championship Rugby squad.

Turning Point

With college came a lot of unhealthy habits and a metabolism that finally slowed down. And after college I didn't really have any sport to train for so those unhealthy habits really took a toll on my body and I put on a lot of unhealthy weight. After college, I decided that I need a passion to train so I decided I was going to compete in a powerlifting meet. I started weight training 4 days a week, I went on a strict healthy diet, I cut out all alcohol and after 5 months of hard work I had lost over 30 lbs. of unhealthy weight. I went on to compete in my first powerlifting meet and was pleasantly surprised with how much progress I had made. I felt so strong and healthy and knew that I wanted to continue down this path. I continued to powerlift until my husband and I moved to Colorado and decided to try out CrossFit. I was immediately hooked.

Motivation & Passion

I've always enjoyed some form of coaching. Throughout my life I've helped coach little league softball, collegiate rugby, and friends who were just looking for some guidance in the weight room or with conditioning. There is something so special about being able to help others find their passion and help them to get better at it. That's what I love about coaching CrossFit. The best feeling is giving someone a cue and a movement clicking for the first time or having a candid conversation with someone about their day that brings a smile to their face. The gym becomes an outlet in so many different ways and I love being a part of that. Even if it's to just brighten someones day or to help them get their frustrations out, it's so worth every minute.
